Ustad Amjad Ali Khan

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan
is an internationally renowned musician whose name is synonymous with the sarod. Noted for his inventive use of the sarod and his willingness to experiment with the instrument, he is a sixth generation musician of the Bangash lineage – a family which is said to have invented the sarod – and was trained under his father who was the then court musician of the kingdom of Gwalior.

In addition to the highest Indian civilian honors – Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, Amjad Ali Khan has been conferred with numerous awards including the UNESCO Award, Unicef’s National Ambassadorship and the Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum.
